Dentist that accepts Delta Dental PPO, Cigna PPO, Aetna PPO, and Regence PPO in Seattle

Moritis & Shin Dentistry is a PPO-friendly dental practice in Downtown Seattle, located at 509 Olive Way, Suite 1520. We are in-network with the four most widely used PPO dental plans in the Seattle area:

Insurance Plan Plan type accepted Status
Delta Dental PPO only (all states) ✓ In-network
Cigna PPO only ✓ In-network
Aetna PPO only ✓ In-network
Regence BlueCross PPO only ✓ In-network

Being in-network means we've agreed to pre-negotiated rates with your insurer. That discount is applied before your plan pays its share — so your out-of-pocket is significantly lower than it would be at an out-of-network dentist, even if that dentist also "accepts" your insurance.

What does PPO dental insurance cover?

All four PPO plans follow the same basic three-tier structure. Here's what you can expect:

Tier What's included Typical PPO coverage
Preventive Exams, cleanings (2x/year), X-rays, fluoride 100%
Basic restorative Fillings, simple extractions, some root canals 70–90%
Major restorative Crowns, bridges, dentures, surgical extractions, Invisalign 50%

Percentages are based on in-network negotiated rates after your deductible. Your specific plan may vary. We verify exact coverage before your visit.

Your plan-by-plan breakdown

Delta Dental PPO — Seattle

✓ In-network — all states

Delta Dental is the most widely used dental insurer in Washington State, and Moritis & Shin is in-network with Delta Dental PPO plans across all states. Whether your plan is through your employer, a marketplace, or an individual plan, if it's Delta Dental PPO, you're covered at in-network rates. Preventive care is at 100% with no deductible. Annual maximums typically range from $1,000–$2,000.

Important: We accept Delta Dental PPO only — not DeltaCare HMO or Delta Dental Premier. Check your card for "PPO" or call our front desk and we'll look it up for you.

Cigna PPO — Seattle

✓ In-network

Cigna PPO is extremely common among tech, biotech, finance, and corporate employees in Seattle — particularly those working in Downtown, South Lake Union, and Capitol Hill. We are in-network with Cigna PPO dental plans only. Cigna PPO covers two preventive visits per year at 100%, with strong basic and major restorative coverage. Annual maximums range from $1,000–$2,000.

Important: We accept Cigna PPO only — not Cigna DHMO. Your card or benefits portal will indicate your plan type.

Aetna PPO — Seattle

✓ In-network

We are in-network with Aetna PPO dental plans only. Aetna PPO gives you full flexibility — no referral required, no primary care dentist needed, and no member ID card required at the appointment. We verify your Aetna coverage by name and date of birth. Preventive care is covered at 100% for in-network providers.

Important: We accept Aetna PPO only — not Aetna DHMO plans.

Regence PPO — Seattle

✓ In-network

Regence BlueCross BlueShield is one of the most common plans among Pacific Northwest employers and Washington State employees. We are in-network with Regence PPO dental plans only. Regence PPO follows the standard three-tier structure: preventive at 100%, basic at 70–80%, and major at 50%. Note that some Regence plans have a waiting period of 6–12 months for major restorative work.

Important: We accept Regence PPO only — not Regence HMO plans.

Why in-network matters — and what it actually saves you

Many patients assume that if a dentist "accepts" their insurance, the costs will be similar anywhere they go. That's not accurate. Here's the difference:

In-network (Moritis & Shin) Out-of-network dentist
Fee charged Negotiated (discounted) rate Full standard rate
Insurance pays % of negotiated rate % of allowed amount (lower)
Your out-of-pocket Significantly lower 30–50% more
Billing handled by practice ✓ Yes Sometimes you submit yourself

At Moritis & Shin, we submit your claims directly to your insurance company. You never have to file paperwork or wait for reimbursement — we handle it all on your behalf.

Switching dentists? Here's what new patients need to know

If you have a PPO plan and are looking for a new dentist in Seattle — whether you've moved, your old dentist retired, or you're simply looking for a better experience — switching is straightforward. Here's what to expect:

You don't need a referral. PPO plans allow you to book directly with any in-network dentist. No permission needed from your previous provider or insurance company.

Your benefits transfer with you. Your remaining annual maximum, deductible status, and covered visits follow your plan — not your previous dentist. If you've already met your deductible this year, that carries over to your visit with us.

We request records if needed. If you'd like us to have your X-rays or treatment history from your previous dentist, we can coordinate that for you. It's not required for your first visit, but it can be helpful for continuity of care.

First visit is covered. New patient exams and X-rays are typically covered under your preventive benefit — meaning your first visit at Moritis & Shin is often at little or no cost with a PPO plan.

Don't wait until January. If you're switching dentists and have remaining benefits this year, book before December 31 — unused annual maximum doesn't roll over. Your preventive visits, in particular, are fully covered and should be used every year.

We keep it simple for new patients. Book online or call us, bring your insurance card, and we handle the rest — including benefits verification and a full treatment plan with cost estimates before we start anything.

What to bring to your first dental appointment

To make your first visit as smooth as possible, bring the following:

Insurance card Your physical or digital PPO card. If you have Aetna, we can verify by name and DOB — no card required.
Photo ID Driver's license or any government-issued ID.
List of medications Any current prescriptions or supplements — some affect dental treatment planning.
Previous X-rays (optional) Not required, but helpful. We can request them from your previous dentist if needed.
List of concerns Any tooth pain, sensitivity, or cosmetic goals you'd like to discuss — we'll cover everything in your exam.

Key insurance terms every patient should know

Annual maximum. The most your PPO plan pays in a calendar year — typically $1,000–$2,000. Unused amounts expire on December 31 and do not roll over. If you have remaining benefit, use it.

Deductible. The amount you pay before insurance kicks in for basic and major work — usually $50–$100 per year. Preventive care is deductible-exempt on most PPO plans.

Waiting period. Some plans require 6–12 months of enrollment before covering major work like crowns or bridges. Preventive care typically has no waiting period.

In-network vs. out-of-network. In-network = lower negotiated fee + maximum insurance coverage. Out-of-network can mean paying 30–50% more for the same procedure.

Coordination of benefits. If you have two dental plans, we coordinate between them automatically. You don't need to figure this out yourself.

Pre-authorization. For crowns, root canals, or major work, we can submit a pre-authorization request to your insurer before treatment. This tells you exactly what you'll owe before you commit — no surprises.

How to get the most out of your PPO benefits in Seattle

Use your two free cleanings every year. Most PPO plans cover two preventive visits at 100%. These visits are already paid for — skipping them means losing coverage you've already paid premiums for, and missing early detection that saves money long-term.

Don't wait until December to book. Year-end appointments fill fast. If you haven't used your second cleaning or have a known treatment need, schedule now — not in November when every dental office in Seattle is packed.

Split large treatment across calendar years. If you need a crown and are close to your annual maximum, we can sometimes schedule the prep work in December and the crown placement in January — using two separate annual maximums and cutting your out-of-pocket significantly.

Ask about pre-authorization before major work. For any procedure over a few hundred dollars, we submit a pre-authorization to your insurance company first. You'll know what your plan will cover and what you'll owe before any work begins.

Use financing for any remaining balance. Moritis & Shin offers in-house payment plans and interest-free financing with no impact to your credit score — for both insured and uninsured patients. If insurance covers 50% of a crown, we can finance the other 50% so you're never stuck with a surprise bill.

Do I need a referral to book with Moritis & Shin if I have a PPO plan?

No. PPO plans do not require a referral or a primary care dentist. You can book directly with us — online or by phone — and we'll handle the rest, including benefits verification before your visit.

Can I switch to Moritis & Shin mid-year and still use my insurance?

Yes. PPO plans follow you, not your previous dentist. Your remaining annual maximum, deductible status, and covered visits all carry over. Your first visit — exam and X-rays — is typically covered at 100% under your preventive benefit.

What happens to unused dental benefits at the end of the year?

They expire. Most PPO plans reset January 1 and unused annual maximum is lost — it does not roll over. If you have unused benefits and a known treatment need, schedule before year-end.
